We finally gave in and decided we were on the look out for the best dog stroller. We had been quite against it, but we felt it was going to give us much more opportunities to go exploring with Wylie. Generally we will walk anywhere between 10-20km a day. Wylie just can’t walk that far so ended up missing out on lots of adventures. There’s also quite a few places in Japan that allow you to go with a dog if they are in a stroller. Especially malls and restaurants. Anything that makes travelling and going places with Wylie easier is a winner in our book. Also, as we bought a car we know we will be getting a chance to explore much more of Japan. Of course we want to do as much of that with Wylie as possible. So getting a stroller made sense.
Which one to Buy
But which one to get? As a childless couple we didn’t expect that there would be so much choice when it came to getting a stroller. It seems there’s just as much choice for dog strollers as there is for a normal stroller!
Our first port of call was the local pet store next to our place. It’s a huge pet shop that sells everything and we know they had a big range of strollers so off we went. Whilst they had a big range, we felt that what they had was either pretty basic/poor quality or really expensive. The cheapest ones were about ¥20,000 but they just seemed really poor quality.
Also, a lot are made for Japanese people I guess as they were really short! At the other end of the scale there was the Air Buggy coming in at a whopping ¥75,000. We do have the Air Buggy backpack which was also quite expensive. But to be honest, whilst the quality was far superior to that of the other buggies there, we just didn’t feel that we could justify paying that much for a dog stroller. At the end of the day it’s just to push a dog around in.
Amazon Skisopgo
So we headed over to Amazon when we got home. The one that came up the most was the Skisopgo option. For some reason it just stood out to us. The design looked nice, it was available in nice colours and the price was affordable at ¥16,000 it was cheaper than any we saw in the stores. We read the reviews which were pretty mixed but we were drawn to this brand for some reason.
After ordering on Amazon it was delivered the next day. We were so excited. It came well packaged. In the box there were 2 sets of instructions in both Japanese and English which we were surprised at.
Putting it together couldn’t have been easier. We followed the instructions and we were set up within 15 minutes. Everything about the stroller was just so nice. The colours are nice, the quality is nice and it just looks nice. The quality of the stroller seems really good. The wheels are strong. The fabric is thick and seems very durable.

It is extremely simple to put it up and down. You can remove the carrier very easily with a click of a button it lifts off the base. With another click the stroller collapses or expands. It’s just so simple. The basket itself separates from the stroller so you can carry that separately. That may make it a bit more difficult to take it on a flight with us. But we don’t have any plans for that any time soon.
We’ve taken it out now on multiple occasions and it’s so smooth to use. The steering is so nice and the wheels seem to be able to cope with anything. We took it ‘off roading’ on some mud and it still coped fine. We did read some reviews that said the wheels were poor quality and broke after a few uses but we don’t seem to have that problem (touch wood).

Conclusion
We’ve been super impressed so far. The looks, the design, the ease of use, ease of putting up and down and the price are all a 5* from us!
Which dog stroller do you have and do you think it’s the best dog stroller?
