It is possible to take your dog with you on the Keisei Skyliner. The Keisei Skyliner is a great way to get from the city to Narita airport. The Keisei Skyliner departs from Keisei Ueno station which is not too far from our place so it’s perfect for us. It only makes 3 stops along the way at Nippori, Aoto & Shin-Kamagaya before arriving at Narita airport.
The total cost is ¥2,570 each way made up of ¥1,270 fare and a ¥1,300 Skyliner fee. Unlike normal JR trains, there is no additional fee for a dog. It only takes 41 minutes from Keisei-Ueno so it’s pretty quick too. Travelling at 160km/h it’s pretty speedy!

As with other Japanese trains, dogs are allowed as long as they follow the rules;
- 1. The total size of length, width, and height of the cage must be within 120cm
- 2. The total weigh of cage and small animals must be within 10kg
- 3. Please make sure that parts of the animals body such as head or limbs do not come out of cage to bother other customers.
If you are heading into Tokyo from the airport, and looking for some pet friendly options in Tokyo then look no further. I’ll update soon once I’ve travelled as a dog on the Keisei Skyliner.
