Sadajuro Nakameguro is a great pet friendly yakitori restaurant in Tokyo. Located close to Nakameguro station which is linked to a couple of train lines it’s super convenient. Nakamgeuro is a really pet friendly area of Tokyo with many pet friendly restaurants. It’s so popular during cherry blossom season, so if you plan on visiting during that period, you must make a reservation well in advance.
Restaurant
Sadajuro has different sections in the restaurant. There is table seating and counter seating. For those with pets there is a separate pet room, but the great thing is, they still have both seating options here too! Usually you need to make a reservation in advance if you are coming with a dog and they only accept reservations over the phone. Which is a bit difficult when you don’t speak much Japanese, but the staff could speak a bit of English also so it should still be possible.
We decided to chance it and turned up without a reservation just after they opened. We were lucky and were able to get a seat. Even better, we got one at the counter! There’s space for about 5 people at the counter in the pet room and a table for a further 5. So in total you can fit about 10 people with dogs. Hence it’s important to book in advance usually.
We loved the counter seats as as soon as we could watch them making the yakitori in front of us. As soon as it was ready, it was passed to us through the window. It was so cute!

Food
There are various options ranging from a la carte to set menu’s. We decided to go with a set menu and chose a set of 10 skewers each. We find that when you go with a set menu then you get to try things that you might not usually try. This was certainly the case here as we got some hormone options included like heart that we don’t usually eat but were still pretty nice.
There is also a dog menu with a selection of yakitori to try. We found this was super cool and I thoroughly enjoyed mine. I chose the liver and the chicken which both went down very well!
Conclusion
We were lucky to get a seat in the pet friendly section without making a reservation. I strongly recommend you make a reservation if you want to come here. It’s definitely worth as the food is really great, it’s a lovely experience and it’s good value for money. We will definitely be coming back here. It’s great location in Nakameguro makes it a top choice for a pet friendly restaurant in Tokyo.
