Pullman hotels are often pet friendly so we decided to stay at Pullman Panwa Phuket to check it out. We don’t usually stay at large hotel chains, as we prefer smaller boutique style hotels. We often find that big hotel chains are a lot more expensive and have a lot more rules. This was kind of true at the pet friendly Pullman Panwa.
Pet Friendly or Pets Allowed?
The check in staff was great with us and gave us a bag of treats. For the cost of the pet fee it’s the least they could have done though! They made us sign the pet policy before giving us the room key. No pets in the restaurants, not allowed unattended in the rooms, not allowed at the pool, must keep on leash. So not really doing so well on the pet friendly front.

It turned out that we were allowed to sit at the outside areas of the restaurants. We did have to sit at the far end as far away from other guests as possible. So it did kind of feel like you aren’t really that welcome. However, we made the most of it. We also sat down at the beach on the sunloungers. It’s a shame we weren’t allowed next to the pool.

We didn’t really see the difference between sitting at the beach or the pool in terms of why you’d be allowed at one but not the other. Overall we just didn’t feel that it was pet friendly. More one of the ‘pets allowed’ hotels. Where you feel like they just say they are pet friendly to look like they’re making an effort but it’s really to just get the extra money.
The Hotel & Room
The Pullman was the most expensive hotel of our stay. We used one of our hotels.com reward nights to ease the pain. The total price was 7,239.51 baht (£159) per night including breakfast. This was for the most basic room. On top of that there was a pet fee of 1,000 baht (£22). Without the reward night, it would have been an expensive nights stay. Our reward night brought down the cost to only 1,553 baht (£34) so it wasn’t so painful. Thank the lord for Hotels.com!
To be honest we felt that the hotel was totally overpriced. The room was quite a basic room, nothing special about it. It didn’t feel like any kind of luxury hotel and there were no amenities for me despite paying a large pet fee.
It was a large chain hotel that was packed. At breakfast everyone was pushing past each other to get to the buffet. There was a lot of choice for breakfast but we don’t really like buffet style. The food never feels fresh and there’s just too many people that it makes it not enjoyable. The pool and beach were also packed with very few spare loungers available.
Conclusion
This is definitely a pets allowed rather than a pet friendly hotel. There are too many restrictions and a high pet fee with only a small pack of treats that cost less than £1 from the store.
Room quality : 3/5 rooms were basic, nothing special
Price per night : 2/5 price was far too high for the room type & overall facilities
Breakfast : 4/5 lots of choice but buffet style and too crowded
Pet friendly areas : 2/5 not allowed in most common areas, where you were allowed you were put well out of the way
Pets allowed to be left unattended in the room : 0/5 not allowed to be left at any time
Pet fee charged : 1/5 high fee charged & bad pet policy
Total 12/30 not a good rating at all and we certainly won’t be coming back any time soon.
