We took a cruise around Lake Chuzenji which was pet friendly. Dogs are allowed on the Lake Chuzenji cruise with a few restrictions. Dogs are only allowed on the top deck which is open air and must remain in a carrier at all times. We took my stroller so I stayed in this during the cruise. Thankfully the weather was good, albeit a bit windy so it was great to be upstairs during the trip.
We got on the boat at the Chuzenji boat station which is where you buy the tickets. At the station there are vending machines where you can buy drinks while you are waiting. The cost is ¥1,670 per person (approx £8.50). There was no extra cost to take a dog on board which is great. The total cruise takes around 1 hour. You can get off at a number of stops along the route but we stayed on board for the full trip as we took the car to explore the other areas.
I’d definitely recommend this pet friendly cruise to anyone visiting the Nikko area.
