Thai Wellness & Meditation Resort is a traditional Thai style Pet Friendly Khao Lak hotel. We had originally booked a different hotel but after arriving and not liking it, we cut our losses and moved to Thailife Wellness Resort. We struggled to find a pet friendly hotel in the area, so we didn’t have much choice. Thankfully Thailife was a reasonable option for us.
Location
Located to the Northern part of Khao Lak it’s very quiet and peaceful. As the name suggests it’s not really recommended if you are wanting to stay up drinking and partying. More suited for kicking back and relaxing. There’s not really anything within walking distance outside of the hotel so be prepared to pay for taxi’s or hire a car/driver if you want to explore.
Cost
The cost per night was 3,550 THB (£82) which included breakfast and pet fee (500 baht/£11.55). The rate felt quite high compared to what we had just payed in Ranong and the pet fee was also higher. We did get a small bag of dog snacks included but nothing else. So the price did feel a bit high. Especially as the hotel seemed very quiet with hardly any other guests. There were signs showing the pet policy too.

Room & Facilities
We were given the basic room type which was a traditional Thai style bungalow on stilts. There were some other rooms that overlooked a big lake, but we wanted to keep costs down so opted for the cheaper room. Inside, the room was very traditional Thai, with everything made out of teak wood. We personally prefer a more modern style, but it’s always nice to go traditional for a change. The room was very clean and had everything you could need. There was a small terrace area where you could relax with a book or a beer too.
There was a restaurant near to the bungalows for breakfast but for lunch and dinner there was a beachside restaurant. It was quite far from the room though, maybe a 10-15 minute walk down a dirt road. There was a shuttle that you could call for to take you down but we decided to walk. On the rules it did say that pets weren’t allowed in the restaurant. However, when the humans got there, there were others with dogs, so mammy asked and they said it was fine. So she walked back to the room to get me so we could enjoy dinner together.

For breakfast, they gave us a table in a sala outdoors away from the other guests (although there were none when we went). Breakfast was a buffet style with typical Thai set up. Ham, eggs, pale sausages plus congee soups, fruit and tea/coffee. Not a great selection but I’ve seen worse.
Conclusion
Not somewhere we would rush back to as it’s not quite our style and felt it was expensive for what it was. However, not a bad option for the area considering we couldn’t really find many other pet friendly Khao Lak hotels.
