There are plenty of pet friendly hotels in Koh Samui to stay at with your furry friends. Koh Samui is an island about 1 – 1.5 hours flight from Bangkok or a 12 hour drive. It’s easy to fly with your pet on Bangkok Airways (although travelling with pets is currently stopped for covid precautions). You can check out my blog post on what to expect if taking a flight between Samui and Bangkok. I recommend taking the smaller prop plane as you then get to be in the cabin in your crate rather than underneath in the hold. This however is only available to smaller dogs.
Another option is to drive which takes about 12 hours including a 1.5 hour ferry ride from Surat Thani. You can either hire a car or there are a number of drivers you can hire to do the driving for you.
Having lived here for 2 years I didn’t get to visit as many as I wanted as I had my own place. I found a few more since I left though so on my next trip back I will test them out for sure!
The following are places that I have stayed at.
Kimpton Kitalay is by far the most pet friendly hotel I’ve ever stayed at. With no pet fees, freebies on arrival to a wonderful dog park. What more could you ask for? Whilst it’s an expensive option, you definitely get your money’s worth. Read my full review of my stay here.

Atlantis 304 Koh Samui I am such a lucky doggo I got to stay in this luxury villa. My pawrents own it so of course it is dog friendly. You will have seen many pictures of me here being lazy and sunbathing. It even has it's own bar and cinema to snooze in. Contact my pawrents and tell them how much you love Westies for some super discounts!
Royal Beach Boutique Koh Samui No extra charges for me and direct on the beach. The beach is super private so easy to walk for miles and see no one. I was also allowed in the beachside bar where we could have snacks and drinks as well as at the pool bar. I really enjoyed staying here. Check out my full review here.

There are also a number of pet friendly hotels in Koh Samui that I haven’t tried yet. I am looking forward to going back to where I called home for 2 years to check out these new places.
La Perle is a boutique hotel on Ban Tai beach which is perfect for pet lovers. Pets are allowed in all rooms and no restrictions in the communal areas. All staff are huge pet lovers so your four legged friend will be wall taken care of. In fact, if the pawrents want to do any activities, the staff can look after you for a small fee of 200 baht for the day. For short stays there's an additional charge of 100 baht per night for extra cleaning but for longer stays there's no charge at all. Will definitely be coming to try this place out next time I am in Samui :)
W Hotel Koh Samui is an upscale 5* hotel in Maenam. The perfect place to indulge yourself and your pampered pooch. You are allowed to take your dog into communal areas but must be kept on a leash or in a carrier at all times. They are not allowed in any F&B outlets and you must notify the welcome desk if you are leaving them unattended in the room at all. They usually charge US$20 a day as a pet fee which includes a pet toy, treat and pet tag, and a US$100 cleaning fee however, this has been waived until the end of 2021 as a special covid promotion so take advantage now.
Hyatt Regency Samui is a brand new hotel set to open in mid 2021 in Chaweng although similar to the Hyatt Regency in Hua Hin it's more of a pets allowed rather than pet friendly hotel. Only allowed in the Ocean Front Pool Villa, not in any of the common areas and not allowed to be left unattended in the room, so only suitable if you don't plan to leave the room during your stay. 1,200 baht per night pet fee and a 10,000 fine if your pet ventures into the pool. However, after passing on my feedback, they are looking to amend this prior to opening to make it more pet friendly, so will look forward to seeing the changes.
Private Villas
Private villas are a great option to consider when coming to Samui on a holiday. As they are privately owned, there is a lot more flexiblity offered as the owner will decide whether to allow pets or not. There’s also often more flexiblity for the humans giving them a lot more personal space and flexiblity. Larger villas may even come with their own chef and staff.
Karibu Beach House is a cute 3 bedroom private villa located directly on the beach in Bang Por. This makes it perfect for walks along the beach and splashes in the sea. No pet fees either which make it even more awesome. Any damage or extra mess caused will be chargeable which is completely fair, so please be well behaved! Sam Kah own a number of villas around the island so you can check out a range of different options.
