Bangkok

Bangkok is not renowned for being the most friendly towards pets. However, there are plenty of hotels that say they are pet friendly. There are a wide range covering the budget conscious up to luxury 5 star hotels. However, you need to check each hotels policy carefully. Most hotels don’t allow you to leave your pet unattended in the room. This is a big downside for my humans. It really limits what they can do since there’s not that many pet friendly restaurants in Bangkok.

There are also a large number of Air BnB’s available as well as serviced residences. Condos are also becoming more pet friendly too which is great for us expats.

Hotels

Check out the following hotels which market themselves as pet friendly.

Doubletree Hilton Sukhumvit is a great hotel in a great location close to Emporium & Emquartier shopping malls. This is our go to hotel when in Bangkok. They are one of the few that allow pets to be left unattended in the rooms as long as you leave a pet hanger on your door when you leave. Full pet policy can be found here and is pretty standard in terms of cleaning up after them, keeping on a lead etc. A one time pet fee of 1,500 baht applies for additional cleaning. Whilst I don't agree with pet fees, a one off fee makes most sense and it's not so bad if split over a reasonable stay. They do say max 5kg per pet, although I wrote to them and they allowed me to stay even though I am about 8kg. 5kg rules out an awful lot of dogs so hopefully they'll change that.
Staybridge Suites Thonglor is in a perfect location within walking distance to Thonglor BTS and the hundreds of bars & restaurants. There is a pet fee of 500 baht per night and you can leave your pet unattended in the room. Check out my full review here.
Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 is perfectly located right next to Emporium and Emquartier malls. They allow nightly & long term stays. From studio apartments to 2 bedroom suites they have options for everyone. The place is super pet friendly with a rooftop garden. When we stayed here they didn't charge pet fees if you booked direct. However, they now do. So whilst we've stayed here a few times, this has put us off staying again. Check out my full review on my blog here.
Kimpton Maa Lai was tipped as the best pet friendly hotel in the city. That's quite some accolade! Their motto according to their website is 'Happy Pets, No Regrets'. Leading the way with no extra charges or pet fees for bringing your furry friend along with you. There are pet friendly areas at the lobby, the garden terrace and they also have a pet friendly area in their Craft cafe & bar. I had high expectations of staying here, however, in reality I was a bit disappointed. I had hoped there would be more pet friendly areas to enjoy. Given the price, I didn't feel it was worth the money as we couldn't enjoy all of the facilities together. Read my full review here.

Ad Lib is a pet friendly hotel I stayed at next to Bumrungrad hospital. It's modern and reasonably priced around 2,500 baht per night. They don't charge any pet fees if you book directly with the hotel which is a great advantage. You can find their pet policy here. Pets aren't allowed in dining areas or swimming pool. A 3,000 baht charge will be applied if there is any damage caused. You also can't leave the pet unattended in the room, which is a big negative although when I stayed we did break this rule as I hadn't realised when I booked. Check out my full review here.
Rosewood Bangkok is another 5* hotel that is pet friendly. In a great location on Sukhumvit Road it's another option we would like to try on our next trip. Rosewood allow dogs only up to a maximum of 10kg. There is a one off fee of 2,500++ which gives you a dog bed and bowl to use during your stay. I do prefer hotels that charge per stay rather than per night as I find it fairer to charge for extra cleaning on check out.

The only rules they have are that pets can't go into the restaurants, spa, pool or gym, which is pretty standard. However, they are allowed to be left alone in the room as long as you allow the housekeeping to clean the rom during your stay when the pet is not inside.
Athenee, A Luxury Collection is another for the list of luxury 5* hotel offering pet friendly staycations. They have changed their pet policy since I first began looking into pet friendly hotels in Bangkok. There is a fee of 3,000 baht per stay, which is better than per night if you are staying for a few nights. Pets are allowed on the outdoor terrace of The Bakery & Rain Tree Cafe as well as The View Lounge on the 4th floor. However, they can't go into the spa, gym, pool or restaurants.

They are also allowed only up to 7kg so this is no good for larger dogs. It's recommended they aren't left unattended in the room, but it's not forbidden so this is a plus. If you want housekeeping while the dog is in the room, they must be kept in a crate whilst the staff are in the room. This is an option we may try on a future visit as it's in a great location on Sukhumvit and reasonably priced for a 5* hotel. The full pet policy can be found here.
Dream Bangkok is another cost effective option that labels itself as pet friendly. It doesn't charge any pet fees which is a great plus and allows dogs up to 20kg. However, like Ad Lib they don't allow you to leave your pet unattended in the room. Even when I said I would pay a big damage deposit. Their full pet policy can be found here. After my stay at Ad Lib, this is something I now consider when staying anywhere in Bangkok. So I personally wouldn't stay here.
Movenpick Sukhumvit 15 offer Pawcation packages starting from 4,999 baht per night. This includes breakfast for 2 (in room), some dog amenities in the room and a welcome ice cream. However, they don't allow dogs in any of the restaurants, the pool area or the fitness centre and don't allow dogs to be left unattended in the room. So it means that the humans can't enjoy any of the hotel facilities so kind of defeats the object of staying in a hotel and isn't someone I'll be looking to visit. They allow a maximum of 2 pets per room up to 10kg.
W Bangkok's pet fee is 750++ per night plus a one off 3,000++ cleaning fee, making it quite an expensive option that I probably wouldn't consider without a promotion. However, they do waive the fees quite often. They have a Pets Are Welcome (PAW) program to ensure your furry friend is well looked after. 1-2 dogs are allowed per room up to a maximum of 18kg. Downside is that pets are only allowed in the room and on the paths entering and exiting the hotel, not any of the common areas.
Siam Kempinski Bangkok is a hotel I'm not too keen on adding to this list, as whilst they allow pets in the hotel, it's not really pet friendly. They are only allowed in Garden Wing rooms with a pet fee of 1,500++ per night for 'the following nights cleaning'. You must also pay an additional 1 nights room fee for no given reason. They aren't allowed in any of the common areas of the hotel, not even the hotel garden. So basically just inside your room. If they decide your pet is a nuisance, or may frighten other guests, you must make alternative arrangements for your pet. Which could be argued could apply to any pet. Since there are always people who don't like animals. I just couldn't take the risk of booking here with a pet.

Most Ibis hotels are pet friendly with no additional charges for dogs up to 10kg. I usually book my pet friendly hotels in Bangkok on hotels.com and use their rewards programme to get free nights after booking 10 nights.

Serviced Apartments

Serviced apartments are a great option to consider. Particularly useful for those just arriving from overseas or relocating to Bangkok for the first time. Serviced apartments usually offer all of the facilities of a condo or home. Things such as a full kitchen, without the need to be tied into a long contract. They also will allow you to stay in the room unattended. Most condos in Bangkok will only consider a 1 year lease. Therefore, a serviced apartment is a great way to get settled in. It gives you the chance to explore the different areas before tying yourself in to a longer contract.

Mattani Suites is a serviced apartment condo located in Ekkamai which is super pet friendly. Most people are staying here long term and there are so many doggos living here it's perfect. There's a large garden area for walkies and socialising with all of the other doggos. Prices are super reasonable too given the location and all staff are amazing.
Hygge House Thonglor Bangkok is where I stayed when we first moved to Bangkok. Air BnB's can often be more flexible with pets since they are individually owned. No extra pet charges here which puts up high on the list of recommended places to stay. This place is perfect for big groups as there are 4 bedrooms over 3 storey's so plenty of space to roam and sniff. There's even a small yard outside so you can go play.

Each hotels rules can change at any time, so before booking it’s always best to check with them directly on their current policy. Keep updated on my blog to read reviews of all the pet friendly hotels in Bangkok I have stayed at. If you have any others to add to this list please let me know in the comments below.
