Ethiopian Airlines are an airline that allows pets to fly in cabin with them. They restrict pets to small dogs and cats. A maximum of 2 pets are allowed in economy class and 1 in business class. The maximum size for the carrier is 55 x 40 x 20cm. The 20cm is pretty small and I’m not entirely sure that any carrier is that small, but the other measurements are quite generous. The cost is 120 EUR/110GBP/150 USD each way so pretty reasonable too.
Route Network
Ethiopian have quite an extensive route network. Internationally, Ethiopian flies to a number of major cities in Europe including Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Brussels and Stockholm; to Bangkok, Beijing, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Mumbai across Asia; to numerous destinations in the Middle East; to Washington D.C, Newark and Toronto in North America. Most routes will involve a stop in Addis Ababa.

This could be a good alternative to the likes of Lufthansa and Swiss Air. Ethiopian airlines seem to have a lot of good value fares. It would be interesting to know if anyone has flown with them and how strict they are on the bag size of 20cm. Please let me know if you have flown on Ethiopian Airlines with pets in cabin in the comments below.

I am having a hard time finding a carrier of this size for my 9 lb dog. Any recommendations?
We use the Sturdibag L size and haven’t had any problems so far – https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/wyliewestie
