We stayed at Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 for 2 nights before we left Thailand for a trip to the UK. We had to spend a couple of nights in Bangkok in order to get my papers ready for travel as well as the pawrents PCR tests to travel.
When researching pet friendly condos to live in Bangkok we came across Oakwood as an option so were famliar with the place. It was therefore, an easy choice for us to make when we saw the great special prices they had on offer. The cost per night was 1,550 baht which included breakfast. They also included the pet fee in the room rate so there was no extra costs payable.
The room we stayed in was the superior studio which is the entry level room. As we had lots to do we weren’t going to be in the room much so this suited us fine for this trip. The room is 29sqm and it also has it’s own kitchen suitable for cooking meals as well as a sofa to sit at. So it’s a lot better than most studio apartments we’ve stayed in before.
Location
The location of Oakwood Residence is perfect on Sukhumvit 24. It is a couple of minutes walk from Emporium shopping mall and Phrom Phong BTS station. There is also a 711 a couple of minutes walk away as well. So there is everything you could need right on your doorstep.
Within the hotel they have the Admiral’s 24 bar/restaurant in the basement. This is where breakfast is served and they also serve food and drinks throughout the day and evening.
Check In
We arrived at the hotel at about 1pm and there was one other couple checking in before us. So we waited on the sofas in the reception area until it was our turn. I could tell there had been lots of doggos here, as there was plenty to sniff at.
Check in was very efficient. The friendly staff were very happy to see me and could tell they all liked dogs. On top of the normal check in procedure, we were asked to sign the pet policy form. This covered pretty standard things such as having to clean up after your dog, not leaving it unattended for long periods of time and not allowing it to cause a nuisance to other guests. Also, if there was any damage caused by the pet, that it would be your responsibility to pay for any damage.

The Room
Our room was on the 6th floor so we got the lift up. There were social distancing signs on the floor so as to not over crowd the lifts and maintain safe distancing. I was very impressed with the room. Even though it was the smallest room and only a studio, it was still very spacious. There is a kitchen as soon as you enter the room with a full fridge and all kitchen utensils and cooking equipment. Then a large bed and a 3 seater sofa with small coffee table. There is a desk area where you could work too so it was a really good space. They also have bigger studios as well as 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. So if you were staying for longer or needed a bigger space, then these would be a good option. As we were only staying for a couple of nights this room was more than sufficient for us.
Rooftop
There is a rooftop area where doggos can go to stretch their legs. The space is really big with a grassed area (although it is fake grass). There’s a few places to sit and and is also where the swimming pool is. There is a big concrete area also which is perfect for running around. The view is really nice from up there you can have a nice view over the Bangkok skyline.
Restaurant
The Admiral’s 24 restaurant is where breakfast is served. For breakfast there is an option for Western or Asian style. The Western option is a choice of eggs with breads and jams. For the Asian breakfast you can choose fried rice or boiled rice soup which is mammy’s favourite. Included is tea and coffee as well as fresh juices. Given it was included in the room rate which was a great rate, the breakfast was very good.
The pawrents also had some dinner there and a couple of drinks. The food is more Western style with hotdogs, pizza, pasta and also some Scandanavian dishes. The prices are what you would expect from a hotel restaurant so a big higher than other restaurants. But the food was very nice and the staff were all really friendly and helpful.
Conclusion
We had a great stay at Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24. It is a truly pet friendly hotel with no restrictions for the dogs, and with no pet fees for stays at the moment, it is perfect. A great location, friendly staff and very well priced. I really couldn’t fault anything with this place and I will definitely be back to stay again soon.

Hi, I wondered if you might be willing to add some details about your experience at Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24?
Some reviews (such as the latest one on Google reviews) mentions that in the premises dogs are not allowed to walk in the lobby/corridors, that dogs can only take the service lift, and that there is nowhere in vicinity of the hotel where one could properly walk a dog.
Would you have any insight into this? Does this match your experience?
Hi Julie, that certainly wasn’t our experience at all. If you check out my video on YouTube reviewing it you can see that I was walking in the common areas, the lift and the corridors no problem – https://youtu.be/8lMcIVbLWKc
The hotel is located in central Bangkok so it’s kind of true there’s no real specific places to walk the dog in the vicinity as dogs aren’t really allowed in any parks either (other than Nong Bon which isn’t nearby). But we still went out walking along the streets, but it depends what you are looking for. We didn’t encounter any soi dogs at all since the area is built up which is a great plus for us.
We are already booked to stay again when we return to Bangkok in September.
