Getting There
This week I went to visit Nong Bon Lake Park which is about a 20 minute drive from where are staying in Thong lor. We have spent the past 2 weeks self isolating at home due to the recent covid outbreaks in the area so it was a huge treat to get to go run in the park. We took a Grab and it cost us 164 baht. I love Grab as they are super cheap and all the drivers seem to love me. I take my own blanket (my Scoot one is my favourite) and sit happily. It used to be pretty hard in Singapore as many drivers wouldn’t allow dogs in the cab but here in Bangkok it has so far been very easy. Mammy also puts a note on to the driver first and sends a picture also to be sure.

Happy Bike

We got dropped off next to Happy Bike at the entrance to the park. I got some sniffs in and we hired some bikes so we could ride around the whole of the park. The bikes were 50 baht each for 2 hours, a total bargain. I got strapped into my K9 Sports Sack and off we went. I love my K9 Sports Sack, I’ve had it for almost all of my life. First stop was at the scenic viewpoint, a short 5 minute ride down a lovely leafy road.
The whole place was very quiet and peaceful, we only saw a handful of other people and a couple of other doggos. There was one of my arch nemises, a German Shepherd, but I was having too much fun with my fur blowing in the wind that I didn’t see him, phew, crisis averted!
In total it took around 30 minutes to cycle around the whole park. We went about midday so the sun was out and hot, but most of the track was shaded so it was still a good time to visit.

Scenic Points

There are plenty of places to stop and sit and enjoy the view or take a picnic too. Also a nice bridge to cycle over which leads down to a watersports centre which doggos aren’t allowed at but looked like you could do some watersports lessons which looked fun and it seemed real cheap too.

We returned the bikes to the shop and had a refreshing drink in the cafe. It was also really cheap. Only 40 baht for a smoothie and 60 baht for an iced coffee, a complete bargain!
I really liked Nong Bon. There’s not many parks that are dog friendly here in Bangkok so it was great to find this place. It was really calm and peaceful and you’d never think that you were in such a busy city as Bangkok. I’m not sure whether it would be more crowded during the weekend or without covid. For sure we will come back here for some more sniffs again soon. Don’t forget to check out some other pet friendly places in Bangkok whilst you are here. Signing off for now, woof woof, Wylie.
