We had a pit stop at Mary Mount Keswick Restaurant whilst doing the Derwent Water walk. This was the first place we came to after about an hour of walking. We arrived at about 11:00. The restaurant itself was not yet open to serve food but it was possible to order drinks.
At first we went to sit in the restaurant area, but then we were told that dogs were only allowed into the bar and the conservatory area. This is because these areas aren’t carpeted, and that tended to be a running theme with all the places we visited. Most places would allow dogs only in the areas without carpet. This makes complete sense as after a plodge through the mud, noone wants muddy paws on the carpet.

Mary Mount is also a hotel and there are many rooms here that you can stay at. They were advertising special offer stays during the low season. Personally I wouldn’t stay here as it’s in a secluded area with nothing around it. So that means you would need a car to move around or to stay at the hotel for food and drink and limits you as to what you can do.
However, it was a lovely place to sit. With views over the lake it was a great spot to stop for a drink. Had we arrived a bit later, for sure we would have also had a bite to eat as the menu looked pretty good too.
If I come back to Keswick, I would definitely come back here in the summer. I would love to try the lunch 🙂
