My first stop on my Scottish road trip was at Gretna Green. Gretna Green was historically the first Scottish village after you crossed the border from England. Gretna Green became famous as a popular wedding spot for young couples. Historically, it was illegal for people to marry under the age of 21 without their parents consent in England and Wales. This was not the case in Scotland. Therefore, young couples used to cross the border into Scotland. As Gretna Green was the first village they came to, it was a very easy place for them to get married. Even after the laws changed, it still remains a popular place for couples of all ages to come and get married.

I thought I would try my luck and see if I could find my bride whilst here. I did happen to see another Westie in the car park, but unfortunately it was another male. So unfortunately that wasn’t going to work.
I made my way over to the famous sign and waited for a while to see if my handsomeness could attract a beautiful bride.

Unfortunately, luck wasnt on my side that day. I didn’t see any other doggos that caught my eye. Luckily for me though, I get so much love from my pawrents that I was happy to go away with them both. I may not have found my bride on this trip, but I know I am very much loved 🙂
