On my stay in Fort Augustus we chose to do a Loch Ness Cruise. This was booked through Cruise Loch Ness.
Tickets
You are able to book online in advance but we just turned up and they had spaces still. They are currently only operating 2 cruises per day at 1pm and 2pm as it is out of season. However, the one we were booked on was absolutely packed, we were quite surprised as it was mid week too. I think someone said maybe it was school holidays.
Tickets for the cruise are £18 per adult and there’s no extra charge for a dog. When we were getting on baord we were told that all dogs must be kept outside. Which meant on the top deck. This would usually be fine for us but all the seats up there were already taken. So this meant we had to stand, which wasn’t ideal as it wasn’t under cover and it was a bit wet!
The Cruise
However, we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. We stood right at the back so we still got a great view of the Loch, albeit going backwards. Actually it was probably better as we had an uninterrupted view, rather than some of the seats that would have been blocked by other people.

There was a small shop on board that you could buy food and drinks from. The humans bought a bottle of Peroni and a small bottle of wine and it was reasonably priced at £6.60 for both.
On the way out the guide was explaining the history of the Loch and the story of the Loch Ness monster. The whole trip took about 50 minutes for the round trip. It didn’t feel like long at all before we were back at the dock.
On the way back some people got cold and moved downstairs which was fully enclosed. So we got a seat on the way back. It was super cold so I got wrapped up in my favourite Scoot blanket and had a little snooze.

It was a nice way to spend an hour. The scenery was really pretty. However, I think the price was a bit expensive for what it was. I don’t think I would do it again, but it was nice to have done it for the experience.
