Today I will be writing a review of my trust K9 Sports Sack. Moving around a lot, I have tried and tested a number of different dog carriers and bags. This bag is by far the one I have used the most.
I bought the original Air bag when I was about 1 year old. My pawrents mainly wanted a bag that they could take me cycling with them so it had to be lightweight. We did quite a bit of research at the time and the K9 Sports Sack seemed to tick all of the boxes. At the time, we were living in Singapore and they didn’t have any local stockists, so we ordered from the US with international delivery direct from the store.
This bag really ticks all of the boxes. As a bigger sized Westie, at 8.5kg, I often find that bags are a bit too small for me. But in this one I ordered a size M and it is such a good size. Even though I am a bit of a bigger Westie I fit in this so well.
The bag is designed so that my bum and back legs sit within the bag and then my paws and my head stay out. This allows my paws to rest on the shoulders of the human and I have full view of everything happening around me. There is a zip which goes down the whole front of the bag so it makes getting in and out super easy and then there is a clip at the top to securely fasten me in once I am all zipped up. There are 2 side pockets where you can put small things like some tissues or poop bags to keep handy.
Uses of the Bag
We originally bought the bag so that I could go on bike rides with my pawrents. It made cycling with me so easy as I sat happily in the back admiring the views. Sometimes I would do barks at passers by to say hello. I used to get a lot of admirers waving at me as I sped past, the wind blowing in my fur.
This was also a really good option for using taxis in Singapore. As most drivers wouldn’t allow dogs without being in a bag. So I would hop into the K9 Sports Sack and mammy would strap me on front wise like a baby carrier so I would sit resting against her in the taxi. That is another great thing about this bag. It can be worn as both a backpack and on the front too. My mammy actually found it easier to wear on the front as it made it easier on her back.
I usually use the bag on really long walks when I can’t walk any more and need a carry. Having the bag handy is a great option and it comes on every single walk with us. Even short ones, just in case I end up being stubborn and refuse to walk!
The bag itself is super lightweight, and as it’s made of soft material. You can literally roll it up and place it in your handbag which is so convenient.
Suggestion for Improvement
I really can’t fault this bag at all. The only thing I would suggest for developments would be to have an optional head piece to enclose the head. This would be super useful in places like Japan where you must be fully enclosed in a carrier in order to use public transport. I’ve really struggled to find something suitable for our move there that isn’t big and bulky or cumbersome. I suggested it to K9 so hopefully one day they will make something suitable as I would 100% buy this.
Since I made my purchase of this bag, there have been many new variations and designs made. It’s great to see a company coming up with new designs and ideas all the time. My original bag is still in fantastic condition even after 5 years of use. As it continues to meet all my needs right now, I haven’t needed to invest or upgrade. But for sure if I ever need another carrier I will be buying another K9 Sports Sack without any question.
Let me know if you use a K9 Sports Sack or if you have any other good tips for other suitable bags. Should I add them to my shop do you think? Speak soon, woof woof, Wylie x
