Amsterdam is the most pet friendly place I’ve ever been. From the moment I arrived at Schiphol airport it was clear that Amsterdam is so pet friendly. I was able to walk through the airport on my lead. It was even possible to get the train from the airport to the city centre! This is brand new for me to be allowed on any kind of public transport! As we landed early I was still super tired. So I stayed in my Sturdibag for the train ride. I did manage to blag a window seat so I could look at all the beautiful scenery.

Hotels
Usually when I look for pet friendly hotels in Asia I only get a handful of available hotels. These are usually 2-3 stars or very high end luxury hotels with a price tag to match. However, when I added the pet friendly filter in Amsterdam, I was so shocked to see that the list of options didn’t really go down by much! There were still 40 available hotels over a range of prices and star ratings even though we booked just the day before. Most of them did have a pet fee attached to the stay but none of them looked that expensive.
I chose to stay at Max Brown Canal District as it was in a nice location and reasonably priced. You can read my review about it on my blog. I was super happy to have so much choice of where to stay.
Bars/Restaurants
Every single bar and restaurant we wanted to go into allowed me inside! It was so amazing. As my pawrents weren’t used to this, every place they went they asked when they went inside. Most places were a bit surprised they even asked and always responded of course, we love dogs! We didn’t have any restrictions, most places gave me treats and everywhere I got so many belly rubs and strokes. I absolutely loved Amsterdam. It meant I could go everywhere with my pawrents and I had so much fun.
There were also lots of outdoor cafes that were dog friendly as well. As it was November it was pretty cold but we did sit outside a couple of times. I would love to come back here in the summer when the weather was good. It will be even better.

I had such an amazing time in Amsterdam. It’s a shame it was only for a couple of days but we had to get back to the UK to see the family. I always heard that Europe was super dog friendly and always wanted to try it. I am so pleased I got to try it and I will very much look forward to coming back again when the weather is better 🙂
