Importing & Exporting a Dog

Importing & exporting a dog can be a stressful process. Each country has it’s own rules for entering and exiting with a dog. It can often be really hard to find the information for each country. I’ve therefore created separate pages for every country we have imported & exported a dog to and from. Hopefully this information will be useful for many people.

Asia

So far, we’ve been to Singapore, Thailand, Japan and South Korea. Here are my experiences of importing & exporting a dog into and out of these countries;

  • Export from Singapore
  • Import to Thailand
  • Export from Thailand
  • Import to Japan
  • Export from Japan
  • Re Enter Japan
  • Import to South Korea
  • Export from South Korea

Europe

We’ve travelled to many countries in Europe and usually if you have an EU pet passport it’s very easy to move between countries in Europe. However, it’s still important to check the guidelines for each country especially if you are moving between Schengen and non Schengen countries. Between Schengen countries there’s no passport control so you are almost never checked. However, between Schengen and non Schengen countries you can be checked (although not always in our experience). Having an EU pet passport makes it a smooth process. However, be careful with countries such as Albania for which you will need a titer test to re enter the EU after visiting here.

For importing & exporting a dog to Europe, my pages here focus on moving internationally from or to countries outside of the EU. The main challenge is finding the office of the official vet to endorse your papers for travel.
