For my day trip to Bruges, we headed off after breakfast we headed to the De Bruckere Metro where we took line 4 4 stops to Brussels-Midi station, one of the main train stations on Brussels. This is where to got off the Eurostar too.
Getting There
We bought our return tickets to Bruges at the ticket machine which cost us €15.80 each per human. On a weekend, train tickets are reduced by 50% so we planned ahead and made sure we did the more expensive trips on the weekend to keep the costs down.
We read online that dogs on a lead need to buy a ticket at €3 so I always went in my K9 Sports Sack as dogs in small carriers travel for free. Although no one checked any tickets, even the human ones on any of the trains we went on. Anyway, I feel more safe and enclosed in my bag as the trains, especially the metros can be noisy. So being in my bag makes it much better for me. Also, on the metro these can be quite busy so also makes it easier for the humans having me controlled in the bag.
We got the 11:52 train from Brussels-Midi which took 1 hour and 4 minutes to arrive into Bruges. From the station we walked into the centruum which took about 10 minutes. From there we walked around the Old Town to the various different churches and buildings.
Bruges Centre
There were soooo many chocolate shops it was sooo hard to keep walking past. Then we stumbled upon the beer museum which we literally couldn’t not walk past. They had beer tasting too so we couldn’t resist. 5 tastings for €10 and doggos were allowed in too! Check out the list of tasty beers to choose from. Each was sold in a 25cl glass but Belgian beer is so strong it was more than enough! There were a few other doggos in there too I got to play with.

The old town was lovely to walk around. There was a nice canal on which you can take a boat ride, although we didn’t do that. There’s lots of lovely old buildings to admire too and of course plenty of places for yummy Belgian food and drinks.
Before we knew it, it was time to get back on the train back to Brussels. I had a great day trip to Bruges and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.
Come back soon to see what I got up to next! Woof woof, Wylie x
