Cafe Iguana

Cafe Iguana is a pet friendly restaurant in Nagatoro, Japan. It’s located in the Fukaya Honozono Premium Outlet Mall. Premium Outlet Malls are usually really pet friendly and this was no exception. Cafe Iguana was a great option as it has both terrace seats but also a separate indoors area where pets are allowed to sit. For once, the pet area was also one of the nicest parts of the restaurant, with glass windows looking out into the shopping centre.

As the name suggests, Cafe Iguana is a Mexican Restaurant. There is a large range of tacos, fajitas, empanadas and various rice dishes. They even have a separate dog taco menu full of yummy delights for dogs.

We went quite early, around 5pm so we were originally the only people inside, but after a while, the whole pet area was totally full. However, the other area which didn’t allow pets was empty. Which kind of says a lot! This was the only restaurant in the mall that allowed pets to sit inside and it was full. So they clearly know what they are doing by allowing pets inside.

Food

For dinner, I got the chicken taco. Mammy got chicken fajitas. Daddy chose the chicken and beef empanadas. All of the dishes were delicious. Mammy’s fajitas were served to the table and flame grilled right in front of us. I devoured my taco within seconds of course.

The staff were super friendly and gave me some little head rubs. Prices were a little bit higher than a usual restaurant, but this is normal with a foreign style restaurant as well as one in an outlet mall. Dog meal was ¥500 and each humans meal was ¥2,000. Drinking water was free of charge and soft drinks were ¥500 each.

Conclusion

Premium Outlet Malls are great places to find a pet friendly restaurant in Japan. Cafe Iguana is the perfect example of a pet friendly restaurant. It has a separate section away from other guests who maybe don’t like dogs or allergic. But this time, the dog area is really nice and not completely out of the way. The food was great, staff were great and we had a lovely evening. We definitely recommend to come here if you are in the area as we really struggled to find pet friendly places in Nagatoro and Chichibu.
