We were travelling on the 10:34 from Brussels to Cologne. The train left from Brussels-Nord station. We booked the tickets in advance on the train line.con before we left the UK and it cost €59.80 for 2. Dogs in small bags travel for free so I went in my K9 Sports Sack and I had my SturdiBag empty too in case they wanted me to be fully enclosed. We did also have my Kurgo G Train (sooo many dog bags!) but that was full of all of my accessories like my bed, my kibbles, toys and bowls!
We left our Air BnB at 09:30 and took Metro Line 4 from De Broukere 2 stops to Brussels Nord. There was plenty of time when we arrived so we just waited on the platform until it was time for the train.
The Train
The train was an ICE train and it was packed! We got on at the food carriage. So by the time we got into a seat carriage most of the seats were taken. A lot of people were sitting and putting their luggage and bags on the seat next to them. This stopped you sitting down which was super annoying. There also wasn’t any luggage storage on the carriage. So we had to just put our case next to the door and hope it managed to stay there!
We managed to get 2 seats on a table together but the woman across was looking at me very disapprovingly. She kept staring at mammy as if I were causing a nuisance. Even though I sat quietly the whole trip on mammys knee sleeping! I think some people just like being miserable!
The train itself was pretty standard and clean. The total journey took 1.5 hours from Brussels-Nord to Cologne Haupfbahnhof. It wasn’t as pleasant as my other journeys I took on the train. I didn’t get my own seat and mammy wasn’t able to do any of her tasks she had wanted to do on her laptop!
Come check out what I got up to when I arrived in Cologne. You can also see what else I got up to in the rest of Europe on my trip updates.
