The Bothy is a dog friendly bar and restaurant in Fort Augustus. Fort Augustus is a perfect place to base yourself to explore the Loch Ness area. Located at the bottom of Loch Ness it’s a great starting point for working your way up. You can also catch a 50 minute cruise along part Loch Ness as well from right next to the Bothy.
Bar
This is why we first went to the Bothy as we had some time to pass before going on our Loch Ness cruise. There’s quite a few bad reviews of The Bothy online about bad service, however we didn’t really experience this. The staff are extremely strict about signing in to track and trace when you first enter. But I guess they are just enforcing the rules and some people may take it as a bit abrupt.
We sat at the bar as we knew we would only be there for one drink. So it didn’t make sense to take up a full table. Daddy was happy to see the McEwan’s on tap and he said it was a great pint!

Restaurant
My pawrents ended up coming back for dinner too. They left me back in the Air BnB as it was their 10 year wedding anniversary. Wowee how exciting is that?! So they wanted a nice meal and I wasn’t allowed in the restaurant. I was happy with that as they deserve some time on their own too. They both decided to have something memorable to eat so they both opted for the haggis, neeps and tatties, a traditional Scottish dish.
They both said it was pretty yummy. However, the portion size was pretty big with an awful lot of haggis. As haggis is quite an acquired taste it was too much for them both and unfortunately they left quite a bit even though it was tasty.

The Bothy is defintiely a good option as a dog friendly bar in Fort Augustus. You can also check out some other dog friendly places in Scotland to try out over on my main page. Until next time, woof woof, Wylie x
