I recently stayed at an Air BnB in Edinburgh on my trip up to Scotland. It’s sometimes easier to find Air BnB’s that allow dogs rather than hotels. Quite often a hotel will charge a pet fee (which I really disagree with). Usually if an Air BnB is pet friendly there are no additional charges. It’s always important to double check with the host first though just to make 100% sure. I have seen some that ask for extra cleaning or a bigger deposit so it’s always best to check.
Location
We chose an apartment that was located within walking distance to the castle and the Royal Mile so that sightseeing would be easy. It was about a 15 minute walk from the Air BnB to the castle and to Princess Street so it was a great location. It was at the opposite end of Princess Street from the train station so it would have been a bit of a hike from there, but still doable.
We came in the car so it was easy enough to find. There were spaces outside to park but they were for permit holders only during the day. The nearest car park was about a 5 minute walk away so we dropped our bags off first then parked the car. It wasn’t too expensive at around £30 for 2 nights.
There were plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes right on the doorstep too if you didn’t want to venture further afield.
The Apartment
I originally enquired about another apartment of Sean’s which unfortunately got booked by the time I was ready to confirm. The one we ended up booking was very similar although the listing does say that pets aren’t allowed. However, after confirming with Sean he said that it was no problem to stay and there were no extra fees or charges.
The flat had 2 bedrooms which was perfect for us as we travelled with my grandpawrents. One bedroom had an en suite bathroom and the other was able to use the communal bathroom which had a toilet and shower.
The kitchen was very well equipped. With plenty of appliances, coffee machine as well as basic condiements it would be ideal for a longer term stay too. We only stayed 2 nights so didn’t use the kitchen at all.
The flat had been really well decorated. A lot of care and attention had been put into the decoration.
Conclusion
I give the Air BnB Edinburgh a full 10/10. The location was great and there were no extra fees for me. The flat was very spacious and well decorated and we all had a great stay here. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Edinburgh.
