Ad Lib Bangkok is a pet friendly hotel in the heart of Bangkok. Located right next door to Bumrungrad hospital it’s also within walking distance to Nana area and the BTS. I stayed here for 3 nights when we arrived back from my big Europe trip.
The hotel itself is very modern and new and is very affordable. We paid 2,500 baht per night excluding breakfast. There are no pet fees to pay if you book direct with the hotel. If you use a booking platform such as hotels.com or booking.com you will need to pay a pet fee of 1,000 baht per night. So it makes sense to book direct with the hotel.
Pet Policy
When you check in you need to sign the hotels pet policy. It is quite standard for most hotels. Your pet must be on it’s lead at all times, you must pick up any poop and not allowed in the pool or dining areas. One problem that my humans didn’t realise was that the policy also states you can’t leave your pet unattended in the room. This was a bit of a problem as Bangkok isn’t so pet friendly. There are very limited options where you can go eat and drink so it made it very difficult to do anything.
My humans admit though that they did break this rule a couple of times as it was just too hard to find anywhere nearby we could all go to eat. They obviously know I am super well behaved having spent the past 10 months staying in hotels and apartments and I wouldn’t be a nuisance. So I was left a couple of times on my own whilst they went to eat outside. However, it made them uncomfortable and made the stay less enjoyable. This was the biggest downside of this hotel for them.
The price, the decor, the location were all great. But not being able to stay in the room unattended really lets the hotel down. It doesn’t seem so pet friendly not to be trusted. It would make much more sense to just charge a damage deposit. If there were lots of places around I could go to like in Europe it would be OK. But in Bangkok it’s just so tough. For this reason, I wouldn’t come back to stay here, which is a shame as it’s a lovely hotel.

Conclusion
I wouldn’t stay here again because of not being allowed to be left alone. But everything else about the hotel was great and would be perfect to stay without a pet.
